Verushka Jooste, is a young ambitious girl with big dreams. She wants to fly. And is determined to achieve this goal. No matter who tells her she can’t.
She went as far as moving to another country for a few months, on her own for the first time, she did this with one goal in sight. Make her dreams come true! She wants to be a pilot.
And well, when was the last time you had a female pilot? The domain is mostly male base, and finding a way the achieve your goals in that lifestyle could be really hard.
While living abroad, she had to take care of herself. She only had a student visa, so getting a job was hard. She had to work illegally in a bar, to make enough money for flight school.
Verushka was working very hard, some days with no support, close friends and family have told her to stop chasing her dream, and rather find something more fitting for her. (A job that will fit a woman) Luckily, she is very strong-minded, and is determined to proving everyone wrong! She was also encouraged by one of her instructors, he told her she had a natural talent for flying, which meant more than anything to her in difficult times.
Shockingly, it was never the men in her life that discouraged her, while living aboard they were the ones motivating her. Her male instructors taught her how to handle a stressful situation up in the air and this has also been helpful in her day-to-day life. Makes you wonder how we are trying to live in such a feministic world, but we as a woman want to tear each other down. Imagine the difference it would make if we supported each other inside of seeing competition?
Of course, when asked who is the Rebel that inspires her, it was obvious. Amelia Earhart, the aviation woman rebel. Amelia always took a stand for what she believed in, she never played it safe to get something she wanted and was never afraid to choose aside. Verushka lives her life by these Amelia Earhart quotes:

Amelia never gave up and went on to do things men only dreamed of.
Why flying? Is a question she gets a lot. Flying because she loves it! When she flies it is like she gets this feeling of never-ending joy, it makes her so happy and it also gives her a sense that she’s in control of everything when we truly are actually never in control.
Like many of us, Verushka still struggles with internal struggles, as well as external ones. But this doesn’t make her weak or discouraged. This makes her brave! She knows she’s here for a reason and that reason is to change the world’s view, about what you can and can’t achieve! She wants to be a role model for girls out there. Though she still learning every day, she’s standing up for herself and fighting her way to the top.
Verushka’s road is the road less traveled and has not been fun. But the very last thing she want’s is sympathy. she would rather want the world to know, that they were wrong, she strong, and still have a lot of fight left in her. “As a woman in a man’s world, I have had so many challenges but the rebel in me kicks in, and let me show the men who is boss, despite all the struggles I face every day.”
